Philanthropy and Caring for Children with Special Needs in Islam

Philanthropy and Caring for Children with Special Needs in Islam

Caring for children with special needs is a collective responsibility deeply rooted in Islamic values of compassion, dignity, and justice. Islam teaches that every child is a trust from Allah and deserves love, support, and opportunities to thrive, regardless of physical, intellectual, or developmental challenges.

In line with these teachings, Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society is hosting an important discussion on “Philanthropy and Caring for Children with Special Needs in Islam.” The conversation will explore how faith-based philanthropy, community action, and inclusive education can transform the lives of children with special needs and their families.

The programme will feature insights from experienced advocates and professionals, including Dr. Bilkisu Magoro, Founder/Executive Director of Bilmor Technical & Vocational Centre (BTVC), Abuja, alongside Haj. Rabi Usman Awobajo, Founder/Executive Director of Natural Care Services, with Mariam Mbaka anchoring the discussion.

This live radio discussion will air on Human Rights Radio (101.1 FM) on Friday, 28th November 2025, from 12:30–1:00 PM, with support from the MacArthur Foundation.

Our commitment remains strong: empowering children and young people with special needs through skills development, inclusion, and dignity-driven education. We invite the public to tune in, learn, and join the collective effort to build a more caring and inclusive society.
